GLW Application 2018

The Eleanor Roosevelt Center (ERVK) Girls’ Leadership Worldwide (GLW) program works to create a more just world by educating and empowering young women to become the next generation of confident, principled, and socially conscious leaders, using the example set by Eleanor Roosevelt.


Applicants must be between the ages of 14-16 during the duration of the program (July 2018). They will be selected based on their demonstrated leadership potential, commitment to community service and social justice, and their academic and extra-curricular achievements.

We are looking for girls who are ready to #LeadLikeEleanor!


  • Application submitted in their entirety by April 20, 2018 (DEADLINE EXTENDED) 
  • Applicants will be notified by May 10th, 2018.


$2,500 program fee 

It is highly encouraged that girls interested in applying to program think about fundraising opportunities to pay for their tuition. Resources and Fundraising Ideas can be found under "Fundraising Tool-kit." It is also encouraged for girl's to mention their fundraising plans and methodology in their application, as this sort of initiative reflects very well to the selection committee. 

ERVK does not cover the cost of travel to and from camp nor any additional spending (i.e. on souvenirs in New York City). These expenses are the responsibility of the participant.

As part of the application process you are required to obtain TWO references who can attest to your qualifications for participation in the program. One reference must be from a school representative, and the other should come from a community member who knows you well. Neither of your references can come from a relative. Your references must be willing to fill out the online Applicant Reference Form and write a one-page letter of recommendation for you. If your reference would prefer a hardcopy, he/she can email for one at or call in at 845-229-5302. Please make sure to ask your references for assistance within an adequate amount of time. Your references may either send their reference forms and letters of recommendation directly to ERVK via email, or fax (845-229-0742) by April 10, 2018.
