Eligibility, Application & Costs

Who is eligible to participate?

ECCEL is for Dutchess, Orange, Rockland and Ulster County Community College students who are interested in developing leadership skills for a lifetime and are self-motivated and self-directed. Participants must be at least 18 years old; current students must be matriculated in a program of study and completed a minimum of 12 credits with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA; students entering college directly from high school are also eligible and must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Do I need to be in a leadership position?

No, no prior leadership experience is required. The ECCEL program is based on the principle that leadership is much more than one’s position – leadership skills can be learned so that anyone can become a leader.

Is this program offered for credit?

ECCEL is considered an extra-curricular activity.

Where and when does the program take place?

There will be three mandatory weekend retreats at an off-campus location for the entire group as well as regularly scheduled  monthly campus-based activities. Retreats are scheduled for: November 17-19, 2017; January 12-14, 2018 and June 1-3, 2018.  Participants must be willing to commit the time to participate in all program retreats and activities.

What is the application process?

The Application Deadline HAS BEEN EXTENDED from October 10, 2017 to October 20, 2017!

Please have all components of the application submitted on or before Friday, October 20, 2017. 

How much does the program cost?

The total program fee is $150, OR five hours of community service.
