The Eleanor Roosevelt Center Boys’ Leadership Worldwide (BLW) program is an international, ten-day summer leadership program for high school boys in 9th or 10th grade.  Participants from across the world of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds come together to acquire the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to exercise leadership rooted in the courage, compassion, and perseverance modeled by Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt.

To benefit from this full, intense experience, participants must be mature, self-motivated and respectful. We would appreciate your thoughtful reflection on these and other qualities that will help us evaluate this applicant for our program. Please mention in your letter any aspects of the applicant’s personality, character, or situation that you consider pertinent to our program. Please upload a one-page letter of reference with this form that includes the applicant’s full name with specific examples or anecdotes that illustrate any combination of:

  • the applicant’s leadership skills and potential
  • his ability to communicate
  • his maturity, independence, and perseverance
  • his awareness of social / civic issues
  • his ability to be a team player
  • his involvement with school and/or community activities
  • his inquisitiveness/curiosity about life and the larger world
  • his interpersonal skills
  • any special talents/skills he possesses
